Tantrums & teething in 2 year old

My son is turning 2 in a weeks time and his tantrums are getting worse by the day. I've noticed they are even worse when he's teething, is this normal? I'm assuming it's due to the pain making him frustrated 😩

Any tips on how to deal with tantrums?
He will drop to the floor and sit there screaming, if I try to lift him he will straighten his body so he falls back to the floor. This happened at the checkout in the supermarket last night and I just had to wait it out until he had calmed down.
I usually don't give in to him and will let him get it out then he will calm down.

I'm usually good at staying calm but recently I find myself shouting at him constantly and just generally waiting for bed time to come so I can get some peace and quiet. Then feel guilty when he's sleeping 🙈 tell me this passes.
