oh FGS, will anyone else's 8m-old let them alone for 2 seconds?

to say ds has become clingy would be an understatement. /he will not let me more than about 6 inches away from him.

If I'm sitting on a chair, he will roll over and pull my foot/trousers, shouting, til I move to the floor.

If I'm sitting on the floor he is right next to or on me. If I am MNing or anything else he is fussing til I pick him up then grabbing my clothes to pull us closer still. Backs of my arms are covered in excited little pinch bruises.

Tell me they're all like this... please!

You need a sling. Almost all babies would prefer to be held

mine is 8 mo next week - and she is pretty keen on me and dh. But we do have two bigger girls too and if one of them is around she will let us go - a bit

Separation anxiety is common around this age I believe.
My DS had it bad.

mine is 7 months and getting like this too, if I sit on the floor he climbs all over me and when I pick him up he constantly pulls my hair and slobbers all over me. Does it with dd too, he drives her mad.

Mine are 3.11 and 1.9 and they treat me as a small mountain and climb (and dribble) all over me if I sit on the floor.

oh good, I can't tell you how much better I feel knowing this is going on in other houses across the planet...

emmaagain, I've got a sling - well, a wrap.

but he is too nosy for the front carry that I know how to do and too wriggly for me to learn how to do back carries. want the wrap fairy to pay me a pre-chrissy visit so we can go back to carrying him...

mine had three clingy phases is just over his third one now at 2.3,it always happened when he was getting a few teeth i havnt been able to go to the loo without him screaming for me and banging the door for two weeks,its a phase it will pass..repeat that several times a day

DS has been like this BUT I think it's fairly common at this age to go through a clingy stage towards one main person and get seperationg anxiety

DD never had this so it's been a bit of a shock this time round with needy, clingy DS. I just hold him a lot, sling if I need to get things done. Meanwhile DD gets very, very cross...

comforted myself this afternoon remembering that when you were in Weepy Zombie phase (you really should copyright that one) you said (iirc) your ds was screeching if you stopped looking at him! Well, guess what?!

We have just had a terrible night and I have had to lie in there patting him to sleep - I think he has ANOTHER BLARDY TOOTH ON THE WAY. Also he just started crawling a couple of days ago and he's having trouble settling

I knew the good week we've just had was too good to last...

we've been having bad nights lately too. He's just starting to move around in his sleep and seems to feel the need to provide running commentary.

my dd has had a mummy-proximity siren installed this week. Once I get 5 feet away the wail goes up and its volume increases in direct proportion to my increasing distance. I spent Monday and Tuesday wondering what terrible illness had befallen her. She's not 6 mo yet. Guess I have this for a fair while eh?

BeeWiseMen, ds did this a LOT at 6m, then he sort of settled. Sort of.
