Almost 4 - copying words

DS will be 4 in March.. still doesn't say much. He knows 1-10 numbers and knows shapes and animals and a few phrases and has a very good vocabulary just won't use it. If he wants me he takes my hand etc

We have given choices and he's under SALT and his nursery are fab and are getting an EHCP sent off for hi for school next year just in case it's needed

Just wondered if anyone else has had a child like this in the past and how are they doing now?

My 9 year old son has developmental language disorder. Have a look at it online and see if any of that sounds familiar.

Not sure cos he understands everything and he remembers well so his favourite book he remembers each page etc and even if we aren't looking at it and I read the book walking around outside (I know it by heart) he knows what to say and where.

When he sees a picture of a boat he starts to say row row row so his memory deffo is very good

So I'm not sure if this is him

I'd just leave it to speech and language to figure out. If the nursery is good, they'll give him all the support he needs. Maybe he just doesn't want to use his words right now.

some children will talk the hind leg off a donkey others will take stuff in and express it in other ways, are you happy with his speech at home ?

keep reading, talking , singing everything helps

@simonisnotme his speech at home is the same as at nursery - be copies lots etc but won't request and will take my hand instead
