pre school problems

dd2 (2.2) started preschool four weeks ago. she only goes 2 mornings a week and i started her for her benefit so she could get some social interaction with other children since dd1 started school in september. she was fine the first week and i was really happy but since then she SCREAMS every time i drop her off. instead of getting better this is getting increasingly worse and she screams as we are approaching the building now. this morning she arched herself and was so tense i couldn't even get her coat off. she stops soon after i leave and i'm told she has a great time there. she is still young and i'm not working at the moment so i don't have to put her through this distress twice a week. what would you do? take her out and leave it for a few months or persevere? please advise!

She might do better at a mum and toddler group. She's still get interaction with other children but you'd be there as well which would give her some security. Try a few months of that and then give pre-school another go.

She is still very young and as you say she doesn't have to go .

Its not uncommon for children to go through a stage like this when they first start pre-school so don't panic. If she's happy when she is there then personally I'd persist with it for a while longer. However if its really distressing for you both then as MDIUTM says you could always go to M + T groups instead. Some children take longer than others to get used to being left.
