Baby hates tummy time

10 weeks old and my little bab loooooooathes tummy time. He spends his daytime naps in my sling and isn't entirely opposed to being walked around with his arms and head perched over my shoulder, looking around.

He has amazing head control and can sit assisted with his head held steady for quite a long time. He just cannot stand being flat on his tummy, inconsolably wailing and inevitably face planting whatever surface he is on until I pick him up.

Reflux has been ruled out but he has got terrible colic. We've altered it for every scenario possible, and the only time he can ever tolerate it a tiny little bit is if he's propped up on a big cushion, which renders the exercise a bit useless.

I'm at a loss and worried he'll be developmentally delayed, but as a mama I just can't stand to ignore my baby's wailing as he's somewhat stranded. Does anyone else have this issue?

It’s pretty normal for some babies to hate tummy time, especially that young, 10 weeks is still tiny!

There are lots of different ways to do tunny time, if you sit on the sofa a slouched back and put baby against you will they lift up their head and look around? That counts as tummy time.

I’ve also seen people have baby on an inflatable beach ball. Have a google of the different methods.

But generally don’t worry, most babies that don’t like to reach an age where it suddenly clicks and they start to enjoy it.
