Mine are 11 and 12 and I still need to tell them at least twice a week.

I'm hoping they'll stop doing it when they find girlfriends who tell them it's disgusting.

we have this problem with out eldest who is 8, my younger two who are 5 and nearly 3 can eat with their mouths closed but my eldest has always found it impossible.

we have discovered tho that he has problems with small nasal passages and his adenoids, so he actually cant breathe when he tries to eat with his mouth closed.

we only realised as he seems to snore a lot and noticed that when he has a drink he 'gulp' breathes afterwards, my mum is a nurse and she said to get it checked out, we are not waiting for a referral to ENT.

this may not be the case with your child but it is worth thinking about as its quite common for them to have small nasal passages apparently, which makes it hard to eat with your mouth closed. hth xx

Thanks for that. He does have problems with his nose and was given nose drops by the GP but they've not helped. Think I may take him back to see the GP in the new year.
