Hi ladies,
I've read up on this quite widely already but just wanted to have my mind put at rest really. My DD will be 17 months old this week. She hit all of her milestones on the early side - was rolling at 3 months and sitting at 6 months and crawling not long after. She has been standing up holding onto furniture and cruising for months not but is incredibly cautious about letting go or taking independent steps. She can walk holding onto your hand but is much more confident holding on to two hands and really clings on! She has in the last week or so started standing up from a seated position but even with a LOT of encouragement has only taken one or two VERY shaky steps. She was breech and delivered by c-section so they checked her hips at birth so I know all fine there and she is weight bearing etc but I just don't know what I have to do to make her feel confident to walk on her own.
Most things I have read say to speak to a HV/GP at 18 months so part of me thinks I should wait until then but looking at her I just can't imagine her doing it in the next month! She's been at nursery since she turned 1 and it seems that all the other children apart from her can walk - even some 6 months younger - but it doesn't seem to encourage her to join them. I just feel like she's missing out on so many things by not being able to walk!
