16 month old speech delay?

Hi all,

Becoming a bit worried that my little one might be a bit delayed with her speech.
She’s 16 months today and she doesn’t say many words, and those she does say aren’t super clear.
She says dada (a lot 🙄🙄), gog (for dog) when I show her a picture of a duck or a toy duck she will say “guck” occasionally but sometimes it’s gog again, but she can do a quack quack sign with her hands. She can say “row row row” very clearly like the row row row your boat song and she has started to say “goh” for go/gone and very occasionally she will say mama/mummum.
She will clap her hands lots, follows simple instructions such as brush your hair, come here for a cuddle and if I say “do you want your lunch/dinner/breakfast etc” she will run to her high chair so she understands a lot.
I’m just concerned by her lack of words as many other babies we interact with that her her age seem to be able to pick up words so quickly and easily. They will also repeat words their parent says even if they don’t really know what the word is.

Basically just looking for some reassurance or others experience. Thinking about calling my HV just to get some guidance, but don’t want to make a big deal if it’s not really an issue.

My daughter could say about the same when she was 16 months old. She also said gog for dog! She's now 2 years and 9 months and she is totally on track. Her speech totally exploded around 21 months.

DS basically didn't talk until almost 4 years old, only some words, but no interest in talking, didn't even try. He could name some things with 1-2 words, but we couldnt understand a lot and he could not even properly say his brothers name, we were very worried, reception was only a year away, friends etc. commented on it, speech therapist also said severe delay and BAMM suddenly his speech just exploded and started to talk in sentences with proper grammar.

Oh wow that’s amazing @flowww it’s almost like we need to just wait for a switch to flip isn’t it?

@Gigitree I was looking on here thinking the same about my LO! She's saying about the same as yours row row row for the song and what sounds like duck or quack. She can say daddy but never says mummy or muma. She babbles complete nonsense a lot and can understand lots as well but never really tries to repeat words I say just looks a bit blank at me.

@Busylizzie85 oh my gosh yes they sound the exact same!
