Playing on her own...

Hi

So my DD has recently started pre school...she is nearly 3...

It has been noted that she has begun to play with the other children but would much rather play on her own with a toy of her choice...

She always seems quite shy around people...

I'm now starting to panic that this isn't right, or I've not socialised enough with her - although lockdown and covid did not help!

Any ideas or stories welcome!

Mine is almost 3 and we are doing settling in at the moment so I am in her pre-school with her at the moment. It's a small preschool of only 9 kids and all are almost 3 to 3.5 years old. They ALL play on their own with occasional interaction but we're talking really occasional - noone is playing with each other for more than a few minutes. They are play along side each other definitely but with each other - hardly and noone has even batted an eyelid at our preschool.

I really doubt my child's entire preschool are abnormal 😉

Sorry pressed send too early....

I think it's more that they just haven't got there yet. Covid probably has had an impact but what can you do.... Until vaccines were available it was definitely the safest thing to minimise contact. I wish I'd had more time with my DD doing things over this last 18 months but I console myself with the thought that yes ok we could have done more things but at least we didn't die from covid....

@Mattieandmummy thanks so much for your reply.

I think I read into the comments too much Confused

Totally agree with what you say about covid, and also we have had so much quality time together - I'm struggling to let go a little!

You are lucky that you are allowed in with your little one, our pre school is still no parents inside policy, which has made it a little harder.

Thanks again Smile
