Learning to read - noticing somethings wrong? Help!

Hi there mums
I’m interested in others experiences related to learning to read.
My son started so well - on track through reception and Y1.
But since the summer break, despite daily reading with me, he seems to be getting worse.

He often does not correctly give the first letter of the word when sounding out.
He sometimes gets the first two letters then makes up the rest/ guesses the rest.
Almost always misses the S off the end eg. I’m Sam’s.
He seems to have forgotten the phonics he learnt in reception and Y1. Eg. ew

I don’t think the problem is that the book level he’s on is too hard. I stepped him down a few and the same problems persist but the books are just more boring. He’s on turquoise btw. Normal for end of Y1/start of Y2.

Any experiences/ tips really appreciated!!!!
Do we need to consider dyslexia?
Thanks for reading!

I'd talk to his Teacher and ask how common this is @Lisyloo725. You might get some more responses if you post in Primary Education as well Smile
