Newborn crying all night

I'm not looking for medical advice on this as I've spoke to my midwife and will be going in to see her tomorrow to go through if there's anything I can do to help baby, so I'm looking for more reassurance.

My 6 day old seems to be crying none stop at night, and for the past 2 nights has been awake from 12-4/5 and will only settle if she's lay on someone and wakes up if she's put in her cot. She's formula fed and is having lots of wet nappies, but then hasn't done a poo since yesterday but midwife said not to be concerned about this just yet!

Can anyone give me some mental reassurance that this is just how it is with a newborn and that things are going to get better and won't always be like this?

This happened to my babies and then things settled. The new born days are so hard. It will get better.

I found a hot water bottle in the cot helped to soothe and Infacol as well.

Aww the early days are so hard, you are doing amazingly!! Yes my son would only sleep on me for the first 2 weeks. I then started swaddling, using white noise and warming the cot with a hot water bottle before putting him in it. This seemed to do the trick and he started sleeping much better in there. Also keep things dark and quiet in the evenings/night to stop them getting overtired. The days and nights feel so long in those days but it does get better, hang in there!

It’s quite normal for the early days but it WILL get easier. I second the tip about the hot water bottle I used to do this for my little one

My little one is 7 weeks and will only sleep on me still! She’s my second and I know things get easier but the nights are looooooong!
