My daughter will be one next week and she hasn’t said any words yet, I’m not sure when I should be worried?

Mine had about 20 words at 18 months, so I really wouldn't worry yet. They're now 11 and 14 ...

I'm sure she's fine @theresaplaceforus but doing this progress checker might give you a bit more reassurance Thanks

My son is 16 months. He didn’t say a word until about a month ago, now he’s picking up new words every day. My daughter was a bit later than him and now at 3 is extremely talkative. Lots of babies won’t have any words at 12 months. Nothing to worry about at all.

My son is 2 and says no consistent words, I didn't start to worry until he was 18 months and only now are we starting to get help. So even if you flagged it up it's another year until anyone would look into it. My top tip is enjoy your baby and don't stress, worrying won't change the outcome it just robs you of your immediate joy.

Can I ask how your baby is doing now xx

theresaplaceforus · 19/11/2021 20:49

Yes @Hotpot33 she is 13 months now and still hasn’t said anything very clearly but she understands a lot will touch her head, tummy, nose, point to mummy, nanny her cup the lights the door etc does arms
Up for clothes and puts her socks on herself points out airplanes dogs cats she seems and looks to me to see my reactions
She babbles a lot and I’m thinking she will begin to speak soon I really hope so anyway says something that sounds a bit like bye bye when waving and then also wags her finger for no

Hi, how did your little one get on?

theresaplaceforus · 27/06/2024 19:07

Hi @Mumof3bb1 shes amazing. She’s 3.5 now. Talks non stop about so many things, says things like ‘well actually…’ and ‘I’ve got a good plan Mummy…’ just did it all in her own time, speech took off around 20 months x
