DD has now said twice to me in the course of a stream-of-consciousness-type-warble that 'mummy hits me' and mimed a thwacking slap motion...wtf???

I'm a bit nonplussed.

I have never hit my daughter in my life (honest!) and never intend to...

Why would she start saying this? Where has she got it from?? Does it mean someone else is hitting her? How can I find out? I did ask her if someone had hit her like that and all she would repeat (loudly) was that it was me that had done it...

And besides all that, if she were to say it to the nursery staff/people who don't really know me, would they really think I hit her??

She's 2.10 btw. Sorry for all the rhetoricalish questions but this is now beginning to freak me out a little...

I really don't know, but my dd once said when she had done something naughty and was asked what punishment she deserved "A punch in the face" We were gobsmacked! And she has definitely never been hit by anyone.
