9 week old unsettled at breast?? SOS

My 9wo has started to get really fussy and unsettled at the breast. He eats well to start, but then starts to shake his head, push away, fus, then relatches, sucks a few times and starts the process over again, and again, and again... I can see milk in his mouth, so not sure if it’s lack of supply? Sometimes giving him a pacifier/dummy will settle him and he'll close his eyes sucking away.

Not sure if this is him being tired/over tired or him being hungry and the pacifier/dummy is just masking his cues? He is exclusively breastfed and has a dirty diaper every 3 or so days and has regular wet diapers throughout the day.

He has seemed really unsettled in the evenings the past few nights, but no excess wind etc. So makes me feel like he’s not getting enough? He has taken a few bottles in the past, but has refused them the past few days - almost looks like I've betrayed him when I tried to sneak one in as a dream feed. But then he seems to be annoyed when I put him to the boob? Really not sure what he’s wanting!

Sounds perfectly normal abs I very much doubt it's anything to do with supply, it just sounds like normal baby behaviour. You could try some breast compressions if he's getting fussy abs try getting in an extra feed in the day although it might not make a difference.

This article from Kellymom might help as well Thanks

How are things today @lovelsa?

@PanicBuyingSprouts Thanks for checking ans for the article!

About the same today, although it appears he's caught a cold passed on from one of his brothers Confused which obviously doesn't help things, although it may be why he's not settling well - doesn't seem to feel great! Stuffy nose and a cough!

I can hear him swallowing while feeding, but a couple of his nappies seemed a bit drier than normal. Going to see how tomorrow goes with some saline nasal spray, then call the GP/feeding team if he doesn't seem to improve after tomorrow.

A nasal aspirator might help to clear his nose and some steam. You could try taking him into the bathroom when the shower is running so that he's in the steam but not the hot water?

Have you tried a few breast compressions as well?
