How much tv does your toddler watch?

My 17 month old really has developed a love for tv... it started when I was unwell, it was a great way for her to be distracted when she had to be away from me and it’s kind of snowballed to a point where she wants to watch it all the time and getting very upset when I don’t let her. I know I need to put boundaries in place but I’ve been very tired and down recently and not stepped up to the challenge.

I try to engage her in play but she can be very grumpy and a typical toddler. We used to go for 3 walks a day and spend as much time outside as we could but she’s not interested in this anymore.

I just wondered how much tv others tots watch and if they went through a phase of always wanting tv? She won’t have it on in the background and we were very strict with her access to it until a couple of months ago

My 21 month old watches TV sometimes. There are some lovely things for babies now & I can't see the harm. Tik Tak is one thing that she loves. As long as they aren't watching it all day...

I can go days with no tv and then have a rainy day with tv all morning 🙊

My son is 2.5.

I feel guilt when we have those days but I get so much housework done 😂

@Geo0905 I noticed this on my one too, so I cut the screen completely (but easier said than done and we have had meltdowns for a week).

He refused to stop watching to go to the loo, eat, anything really. So I said no more. It helped. It was painful but I can now build blocks with him again and read books and cook and do other things, rather than him being glued to the screen watching Danny the Digger millionth time.
