Nap and sleep routine for 1 year old

Hi, my 1 year old son sleeps really well during the day and at night, however I'm struggling with the times that he naps during the day. At the moment he seems to be having his afternoon sleep at around 1.30 and depending on how long he slept for in the morning, he will sleep from half an hour to an hour and a half. He therefore will wake up at the latest of 3pm. The only thing is is that he gets really tired again around 6 O'clock (sometimes at 5 if he's only had half an hour sleep in the afternoon) and gets grouchy and moany and ends up asleep by 6.15 or 6.30. He then will wake at 6.30, which is also fine but he will go to sleep in the morning at about 9 again. Basically I'm just trying to work out how to prevent him getting so tired in the evenings and get him to go to sleep in teh evening a bit later, so he wakes up later (so his sleeps during the day are later!). Or am I just worrying about nothing?

Hi hadie,

probably worrying about nothing! my daughter is nearly 13mths and she has 2 sleeps-one around 930-10ish int he morning when she will sleep for nealry 1half hrs and another around 200pmish when she sleeps sometimes for 2 hrs.She then starts bedtime routine 630ish and in bed at 700ish pm.She wakes at 600-700anm also.
She loves sleep!
So if your son needs sleep let him have it.
Admittedly she is more tired on her days in nursery as she only sleeps an hr or so total there.

Every child is different and some need more sleep then others-go with the flow. Also when they are teething/learning to walk all gets muked up anyway.

hope that helps.

thanks - thought I was worrying about nothing! I guess I should count myself lucky!
