5 year old - at my wits end!

Hi everyone.

I'm at my wits end with my 5 year old daughter. Every single night, starting at dinner, she starts being so defiant, angry and spiteful.

She will deliberately do things she's not allowed to do like draw on the fridge, throw her food, scream at me like a demon, throw things etc and bedtimes are even worse! She is always defiant and will refuse putting on PJ's and all the other steps associated with bedtime. Tonight has been the worst so far. It went on for two hours. Not once did I lose my cool, I simply kept trying to sympathise, validate and show her I care and love her but she gets so worked up and scream, stomp, shout etc and I have no idea what's it over! She just randomly starts being spiteful to my partner by saying things like "I don't want you to sit here at dinner" or "go away" etc. I just don't know how to manage this behaviour anymore and I genuinely feel like the worst parent in the world. At school, she is fine and no problems! She's fine with relatives too!

We moved house at the start of August and it's just escalated. My Grandad died in March who she was close to as well. I just need some help and advice on what to do. I can't carry on with this for much longer. I just want her to be happy and loved, without this constant battle every single day and night!!!

That does sound incredibly difficult. Is your DP her DF? Were you all living together before the house move?
