Is my 4 month old broken?

For the last week my 4 month old has been showing signs he’s tired at around 6pm. I have been getting him ready for bed with sleeping bag etc and then he just wants to feed every 20-30 minutes for at least 10 minutes at a time until around 10pm. Sometimes I can put him down for a few minutes to go and quickly eat dinner etc but it’s getting me down being stuck in the bedroom with him feeding most of the evening. I’ve got a toddler as well and if my husband wasn’t wfh and able to take over I don’t know how I’d do his bedtime too. How do other people manage this? Just let the baby cry while doing bath time for the toddler? Just can’t get anything done and feel like I haven’t got any free time. Will this end?

I don't usually post on here but I feel like I need to for this as I'm in a similar situation and was going to post my own thread about it. I'm sorry I don't have any answers or reassurance on when it will end (it definitely will though surely), but I just wanted to let you know you're not alone.

I have a 4 month old daughter who, only over the last couple of days, has started feeding a lot more than usual and is falling to sleep on the boob for naps which she doesn't usually do. She's still chomping away and swallowing milk (I think) whilst she's asleep. It could be a growth spurt maybe as it's not like her.

I'm currently sat pinned to the sofa with her whilst my partner is cleaning and hoovering! Have you tried a sling? That way you could still be available for your toddler and not be stuck alone in the bedroom, whilst your baby pops himself on and off the boob whenever he wants?

Thanks for this reply @charleygotham! It’s so frustrating being stuck when you can see all the jobs piling up. I was hoping it was a phase but we’re into week two now and he’s wanting to feed non stop. I’ve tried sling feeding before and I don’t find it very comfortable annoyingly otherwise that could be a solution! I also find baby is v sensitive to noise and wakes when he hears my toddler. I’d thought he’d be very resilient and get used to it but he’s the opposite. I wonder if he’s a bit scared of being jumped on 🙈

Hopefully it will end soon as it’s starting to get me down tbh. We’re in the middle of some major house renovation and it’s all getting on top of me as I have no free time! Hope things improve for you xx
