How tall is your 10 year old ds?

Just that really. I went to pick him up from grandad's tonight and he was walking down the road with a lad we havent seen for ages. (he was in ds's class at his old school). His friend has always been taller than him but ds looked so tiny next to him now. His friend seems to have shot up since we saw him last!

Have just checked on the doorframe where I record ds's height every birthday, and at 10 he was 4ft 11 ins. Is now 13 & 5.5 (taller than me!)

plowder · 04/12/2007 10:35

It happens dd is 13 and the oldest in her class/set and she is 4'8 and her best friend is 6' I kid you not the girl is 6' as it happens most of the girls in her class are at least 5'5, people grow at different rates.

MerryAnnSinglemas · 04/12/2007 10:38

ds was 1.32 in March, but I know he has grown a fair bit since - he's still quite small, compared with classmates.

ScruffyTeddy · 04/12/2007 18:26

He's 4ft 5 in, I just measured him!

He is 4ft 10in and was 10 in July. Average I think?

Winetimeisfinetime · 04/12/2007 18:49

You can estimate his final height by taking the average of your and his father's heights { in cms } and adding 6.5cm on. It may be that he is just about to start the growth spurt that boys seem to have as they start puberty.

Winetimeisfinetime · 04/12/2007 18:58

I think that at age 10 boys should be about 78% of their final height { just as a guide } so your ds should be at least 5' 8" when he is fully grown, which is probably around average I would think. Sounds like he is right on track at the minute.

My daughter is 10 and is 5'7" already. I'm dreading how tall she's going to end up being.

ScruffyTeddy · 04/12/2007 19:06

Neither of us are particularly tall. I am 5ft 4 and his dad is 5ft 10. I have a tiny frame and was a size 8 up until a few years ago (having dd put paid to that). Now im much more like a round little elf (very festive) .

His dad is still quite slim and medium build I would say.

Another one watching in interest.

DS1 - 6yrs7 months is 4.5ft tall. He was 60 cms at birth - the tallest baby on the unit that month. DH is also very tall 6ft3.

I'll let you know in 3.5 years time :-)

christywhisty · 04/12/2007 19:31

Ds was 5ft at 10 he is now 12 and about 5'4.

His primary class was full of very tall boys one of them is still only 11 and is about 5'9!

PussinWellies · 05/12/2007 11:43

Mine at almost 10 is 4 ft 6 (and he has a 6ft 8 dad!)
