Hi all - wonder if anyone had any tips.

My girl is 5 and a half months. Has always had good neck control and strong legs. She’s been pushing herself up on her arms since only a few weeks old.

However she is still not sitting up yet - every time we pull her up from lying down she just straightens up and stands! She holds our hands and stands there. It very hard to get her to practice sitting as she just won’t fold lol she’s like a little plank.

Anyone else had this? Any way to encourage her sitting rather than standing?

Haha my little one still does this! She is 9 months now.

I got a V Pillow to place behind her for confidence in case that was it...it has helped. Also got placed her fave toys on the floor in front of her to interest her. She does do it now but sometimes I have to fold her.

I looked it up a couple of weeks ago when I was going through a particularly anxious phase...I think it said it can be to do with hypotonia so might be worth looking that up or asking your HV if u have concerns around it. I think the explanation was that its easier for hypotonia babies to lock their muscles out whilst in the Standing position than it is for them to use their core strength.

The pushing up on the arms is a good sign though...my little one has only recently started to do this xxx
