Is this just a 'phase'?

My DS is 2.5 and over the last week he has started to stammer slightly. It's almost as if he is trying to talk too quickly and it's only when he starts a conversation. I am not too concerned about it and think it will pass but my DH has a stammer and is really concerned because he doesn't want our DS to grow up with a stammer.

The words my DH stammers with are not the same as the words my DS is starting to stammer with, IYKWIM?

Just wanted to find out whether anyone elses DCs do/did this. TIA.

My daughter was exactly the same age as your son when she started to stammer. Although I had her assessed by a speech therapist and did do some exercises with her I was tld it was very common and that most children grow out of it. And she did!

Its very common at that sort of age especially with boys. My DS did it for a while when he was just 2.

If you do a search on here for "stammer" you'll find lots of people saying "my DS/DD did it too" which is quite reassuring.
