Baby led weaning thoughts?

My HV suggested I bypass purées and go straight to baby led weaning (my LO is 6 months today) but I'm just not comfortable with it. I'm happy to cook my own things for him and purée along with some Ella's etc. for ease, but I'm worried that I'm doing something wrong and restricting his development if she said that's what he should be doing?

Any advice would be appreciated?

I'm surprised you have such a forward thinking HV to suggest BLW.

Most are against it.

It won't restrict their development.

You do what you are comfortable with.

My first baby I did purees and my second baby I'm doing BLW. THere is a good Facebook group for BLW you could join if you wanted to take a look and maybe try both.

Or you could do you purees on a loaded spoon and give the spoon for the baby to pick up xxx

@Bombleton

Thank you!

I gave him some banana this morning and he took the spoon, so I let him try and navigate with some guidance.

I haven't had FB for years, but that's handy to know.

I think as the weeks go by I'll keep doing the loaded spoon with lots of different tastes until I feel more comfortable.

Do whatever works for you, OP. There's no right or wrong. I did a bit of both depending on how much energy I had to clean up the subsequent mess day to day haha. Best of luck x
