12 month check

Just wondering if anyone can shed any light on what happens during the HV 12 month check? I’ve had a look at the questionnaires online and my daughter can only do one or two of the gross motor skills things. What do they do about this? She’s just started crawling, which I posted about recently as I was worried, and the last thing I want now is for this to spark more worry about what she is/isn’t doing?

Sorry, not really sure what I’m asking - just would be good to have other people’s experiences!

Thanks x

Sorry, I should’ve added that my daughter is 11 months old but was 5 weeks earlier so not quite 1 yet!

They do their measurements (height, weight, length) go through your questionnaire with you and then discuss any concerns you or they have. If the skills are "emerging" then they tend to be happy with that. They may ask to see you in a couple of months just to check in that everything is on track.

If its only gross motor skills that your child is not scoring as well as u might hope on, then they may just want to check with the physio to see if there is anything the physio can do to support.

If its two or more areas that the scores are low on then it's likely they will want a full developmental check with the paediatrician.

My DS scored low on 3 areas if I remember rightly. But he was already under the relevant services so nothing really came of the 12 month check xxx

My granddaughter had her 12 month check last week and she's 11 months. No weight/height check. HV went through a checklist and scored granddaughter. Covered problem solving, pse, language, fine and gross motor skills. Granddaughter not crawling or standing so my daughter was given an exercise to help her core strength.
Interestingly she also advised my daughter to contact her GP to book next set of vaccinations as apparently there are a lot of delays now with babies receiving these.

DS couldn’t move at all at 12 months. He scored highly in everything bar gross motor, which he was in the ‘serious concern’ category. The HV really wasn’t bothered. The only two things that are ‘true’ gross motor milestones are sitting by 10-12 months and walking by 18 months. If those are missed then you’d likely be referred but other than that it’s just watch and wait.
