Just posting this for support really if anyone else can relate? My lovely happy content loving little toddler (22 months) had a nasty ear infection and is now on the mend. But it's like his personality has completely altered. He's now screaming most of the day, so cross, has suddenly started waking at night again shouting for us, won't eat solids, won't drink anything but breast milk. It's exhausting and I feel so sorry for him because it's so clear he's struggling with his emotions but it's also getting to the point where I fear taking him anywhere because of the screaming and the meltdowns. I can't sleep at night because I know I'll be woken in an hour or so by a blood curdling scream. I feel sick that he won't eat food and seems to looking so thin. It's only been two weeks but I just wanted to see if anyone else has had similar experiences and if so, how long did it last for?

I should add, I don't think he's physically unwell any more but he is quite tired. Perhaps as a bit of a hangover from the illness. I've asked for a HV appointment too.

My son had recurrent ENT infections. Around the same age he was known for crying and screaming 22 hours a day.

I took him to the GP once and he screamed for so long and so loudly that people in the waiting room let him in before them. The GP quickly examined him and was surprised to find nothing. He said "I was expecting a raging ear infection when I heard him crying".

He said it could be a middle ear infection that can't be seen on examination. Anyway a few months later we had grommets put in and all was resolved.

Obviously couldn't put up with that for a few months so we took him to see a cranial osteopath. That night he slept the night through. We also looked at food intolerances. Removed dairy and gluten and started on goats milk. (If you are breast feeding and want to do this - you have to eliminate it completely from your diet). Anyway, he was much better after.

The other thing to consider is did your baby have antibiotics? He might be struggling with a tummy upset post anti biotics and a probiotic might be helpful xxx
