I've just bought a britax evolva 2-3 car seat for my dd who is 33 months old. She is tall for her age and has outgrown her britax 5 point harness chair that's ment to go up to 4 years. She is 18kg. I've heared people say that this is too young not to be in a 5 point harness. Is this true and if so does anyone know of a make of seat that has a 5 point harness for a child over 18kg. She is very mature for her age and would not pull at the belt. What do you think?

My DD2 keeps undoing Britax car seat so I went to specialist shop (2 actually)to see if I could get her a more grown up seat to be more like her sister, but they explained to me it is purely based on weight, because of safety factors, so if your child weighs enough to go into the car seat it is perfectly safe. My DD2 is very tall but light weight, so she is stuck with five point harnesses she can undo I hate traveling in car with her because if she doesn't undo her straps she will undo seat belt holding car seat in place

I know in Australia you can buy a strap thing to make the seat belt a 5 point one (if I know what one is exactly - I might have the wrong idea!) On the news last night they reminded people that kids should be in proper booster seats until they're 8 or 9 and half of child deaths in car accidents would have been avoided! A bit off your topic but I wouldn't take risks with a car seat. What did the salesperson tell you? are there guidelines? If they say it's ok then I'd assume you're ok!
