9 month old nightmare at mealtimes

My 9 month old has become a bit of a nightmare every time I need to feed him. He screams when I put him in his highchair (or any highchair for that matter), hates wearing a bib despite trying different ones, he doesn't seem to want any food I offer him either, even if he's previously enjoyed it.

It's really wearing me down. Three times a day I'm trying and get this. I never had this problem with my two older children. I've tried feeding him sitting on the floor instead but he's no better. He keeps batting the spoon away from me or throwing finger food around.

I stopped breastfeeding last week, I was ready anyway and I'm going back to work soon, so he is taking plenty of formula (fortunately he's always been happy to take a bottle alongside breastfeeding) could it be this?

Has anyone else experienced this?

How much formula is he having? Could it just be that he's not that hungry?

He's having 150ml approximately 4 times in a 24 hour period. Definitely more than whatever breastmilk I was producing, but would this be enough to fill him?

Well that sounds right for the formula. It's 600ml until he's 10 months and then it drops to 400 ml.

I wonder if the formula is making him a bit constipated and that's affecting his appetite? If he's having follow on formula the added iron can often act as an appetite suppressant as well.
