6month old whinges all day

My 6mo son basically cried from birth to 3.5 months, we were back and forth with has he got reflux, allergies, colic etc and when he hit 4 months he seemed to chill out a bit

He’s now 6.5 months and the last 2-4 weeks have been like having a newborn again. Except it’s not crying it’s constant whinging. It’s all day!! He’s only semi content (for 3 mins) when I’m physically with him and talking or singing, even if I take a breath to think about what song to sing next he’s whining.

Just to get 5 mins to myself I tried the tele but honestly 30 seconds into peppa pig and he’s whining, I kept saying thing like ‘once he can hold things it’ll get better’ .. ‘once he can sit it’ll get better’ and now he’s nearly crawling so I’m thinking ‘once he’s mastered crawling he’ll be happier’ but I honestly think I just have a very miserable child 😢

Anyone else the same or have been the same and it got better? I keep hearing ‘it does get easier’ but I thought by now it would be

I remember this stage. Exactly same story as my DD, miserable from birth to 5 months, chilled out but 6 months it all started again and she learned to whinge instead of cry. It was relentless. She improved around 7-9 months then it started again 🤣

A lot of it is frustration, if he’s learning to crawl at the moment it’s probably that. Once he masters that he’ll probably chill out a bit then it might start again at the next milestone.

Agree with everything above. Mine was also identical. Screamed for the first 4 months, which then insidiously turned into a whinge with varying degrees of intensity. I bet yours will whinge until he can crawl, then it’ll stop for a bit, and then whinge until he can walk, then stop for a bit, then whinge until he can talk and so on. I’m sorry. I think some feisty kids are just born this way x

Oh no, I don’t know how I’m going to handle it! This is not enjoyable at all and not how I imagined having a baby!

He gets up on all 4’s and rocks or shuffles forward but hasn’t worked out how to move his arms and legs together, but I’ve ready that can take months 😩
It’s so draining looking after him 🤦🏼‍♀️

Is he in a routine does he get enough sleep and naps for age?

FTM1995 · 16/08/2021 03:22

Yeah he’ll normally sleep around 2.5-3.5 hours in the day and then at night 10-11 hours with 0-1 wake up.

He’s actually been an angel the last few days so I think it’s just phases. I try not to listen to it too much but he just have been in leap 5 from the wonder weeks app.

Just have to remind myself it’s a phase the next time he’s fussy for a while! 🙈
