Potty training!!

Just after some advice. I have 3 daughters. The two eldest were potty trained at 2.5years no problems just got on the toilet one day and that was it. Im really struggling with my youngest. She is currently Almost 3 and we had a week of her going to the toilet with no accidents if she had nothing on her bottom half. the minute we tried to use knickers she just started wetting herself every single time she needed it. Now she wont even use the potty if shes naked on the bottom. I dont shout or anything when she has an accident I just discretely clean it up but im so lost. its like shes gone fully backwards again. Any tips for me? Thankyou.

My first tip would be to put her back into nappies and leave it for at least 2 weeks. Don't mention it at all. It will give her a chance to relax and you might relax but it will also help you think through what strategy you want to use moving forward.

After the 2 weeks I'd start by plopping her on the potty when her favourite tv show is on and giving her something fiddly like a small box of raisins. If she manages to do something in the potty make a huge fuss. If she doesn't do anything just don't say anything. Repeat again at times like when you're running the bath but leave her in nappies the rest of the time.

I'd also introduce some story books at this time about potty training.

Once you've done this for a couple of weeks she will associate the potty with nice things like snacks and her favourite tv show. Then remove the nappies in the day and always have a potty handy.

So it will be a good 4 weeks before she's expected to go without a nappy but in that time she should have changed her mind about potty training Smile

Thanks ill start again and see if that works.

Hope it does. My first potty trained like a dream but my second needed more "encouragement" Grin
