Tantrum after childcare

My DS is 16 months and we have recently started with one on one childcare in the house for a few hours a day, so I can get some jobs done.
He seems to be absolutely happy when with her, and always looks content when I walk in the door. Runs straight to me for a cuddle with a big smile on his face which is lovely. However he has started to have an almighty meltdown when I try to give him his dinner soon after coming back. This is the 3rd night in a row that he has been inconsolable and has ended up going to bed with basically no dinner or bath. He is having a big bottle before going in his cot happily, but I’d much rather he had some dinner!
Just wanted to ask if anyone has experienced this and how long it may possibly last? I can see that it’s probably an adjustment to being left, but hoping he doesn’t stay upset for too long.
