8 month old standing but not rolling or crawling

My daughter turned 8 months old last week...she has always hated tummy time from being a baby she cries and I have persevered for a little while otherwise she would never do it!

She can sit unassisted and just wants to stand all day long, holding onto our hands and pushing herself up to standing. She is also holding onto the settee and her Walker to stand for a few seconds before getting wobbly. But we are getting there.

Should I be concerned that she has only rolled once, and shows no attempt to crawl. I try to get her to roll from her back to her front but she shoots her arms out to the side and stops herself (I think because she associates it with being on her tummy which she doesn't like).

Should I be worried??

Well I guess rolling and crawling are about building strength and coordination in preparation for walking but if she's standing up then she might just go straight to walking in time - some do. Probably only time will tell but I realise that isn't really that reassuring!

If your health visitor is any use you could try them but if not, go to your GP.

Oh just saw the bit about pulling up to stand, if she's doing that herself then that's really positive. I think she's probably fine but if you're worried seek some professional advice.

My daughter was like this. She just wanted to sit and walk with us hold her hands. It’s fine but the problem is if they skip rolling and crawling they take much longer to do things such as learn to sit up themselves and pull to stand them self’s. Does she actually stand herself up or pull up from you holding her hands?
My daughter had some tightness in her hip. HV was useless and said they wouldn’t refer until she was 14/15 months so we used exercises from a certified PT I found online. She was late but she can now roll, side sit, crawl and is cruising and walking with a push walker confidently. It was so worth the work to give her that freedom to move earlier than if we hadn’t helped her along the way 😊 if your really worried ask your GP to do a hip and neck check. Or a chiropractor for peace of mind

DD1 was like this. She then crawled at about 10 months, walked at 15 months. And once she took a couple of steps, that was it, she walked everywhere. She just didn't do anything until she could do it properly. Once she could crawl, she saw a point in rolling so did that too.
No physical issues at all and she's now 20!

Then I had dd2 who crawled at 5 months and walked at 8 months. Total nightmare as she had no common sense (I might level that accusation at her now aged 17yo, but would be a little unfair) DD1 was far easier!

Thanks everyone!! My husband says I just worrying for nothing. She's only pulling herself up on our hands but can stand holding onto her Walker or the settee.

I've been encouraging her to roll and crawl as much as I can she just ends up like a starfish! 🙈

I'll keep an eye on things over the next month or so especially as many of you have said your little ones were like this too! First time mummy worries!!

Can I ask how your baby is getting on now xxx

She's finally rolled over from her tummy onto her back and now does it all the time phew!! She's trying to go from her back to her tummy but hasn't quite mastered that yet.

Still no signs of crawling but we keep trying it each day.

She's taken about 4 steps with her Walker by herself and just still wants to walk around all day holding onto our hands x
