Am I expecting too much?

My DS is 6 yrs old and I’ve noticed he is getting more independent and wanting to grow up which is how it should be, but I can’t help feeling emotional. He used to sit and give me cuddles but now has no interest at being affectionate. I just feel like he’s only 6 and should still want to hug his mummy, am I expecting too much at 6.5 yrs? My husband says he’s growing up and cuddling mummy is the last thing on his mind. He seems to have turned into a moody teenager at times too I just think where has my little boy gone! What’s your experience of 6.5 yr olds??x

I can't remember any of mine wanting to sit still for long enough at that sort of age if I'm honest.
I mean, apart from at bedtime when we had a routine of story and chat after bath and before sleep when they were snuggled into bed.

They still hug you though. I often get a hug from my adult ds
