Baby keeps leaning back when sitting

My LB is almost 8 months old and only recently started sitting up, however he won’t sit for longer than 15-30 seconds as he just throws himself back. It’s not in a tantrum way, but more like he’s lazy and just likes laying down. It’s worrying me that there is something wrong developmentally. Has anyone had the same experience or know what I can do to improve his sitting?

How is he in other ways? Will he stand for a few seconds if you hold his hands?

Yeah he seems to be quite strong, he will stand for a few seconds if we hold his hands and even stand holding the sofa for a few seconds if we stand behind him.

If I do something like read with him between my legs (not touching him) and hold the book far away he will sit for the whole book (a few minutes) on his own but as soon as it's done he just chucks himself back again.

Think you're just going to have to put some cushions behind him and let him get on with it Smile
