15 mth old not walking/no words

My 15 mth boy is very active, climbs furniture, cruising etc can stand unassisted for a few secs then drops straight to the floor.

Also noticed he doesn't say any words. Apparently they should say 3 words clearly/regularly by now. He'll babble 'mama' if he's very upset/distressed that's it. Never in context.

To add he is vocal not a mute or anything just no words.

Not sure whether I should contact someone about his development at this stage. Thoughts?

If not walking by 16 months ask for help.

It sounds as though your son will be walking soon. Some children don't walk until 18 months and they are fine thereafter. As for saying three words, not all do that. My neighbour's grandson was over two before he spoke, a friend of mine said nothing before the age of three and both are quite normal.

You could ask your GP if there is anything to worry about as you are concerned but I think you will see great changes in your baby over the next few weeks.

I could have written this. My 14 months old is exactly the same. He has been close to walking for a while but still prefers to crawl and climb. Also he doesn’t say any word. Just babbles a lot. Well you’re not alone. Let’s just sit and wait.
