1 year old cannot move independently

Sorry another one from me today. I’ve got the ‘just started nursery after a year of social distancing’ fear!!

Basically as the title says. Has anyone had a 1 year old (12.5 months to be exact) who cannot move under their own steam? Has it been okay in the end?

DS cannot crawl, isn’t even close. Just screams as soon as he is on his tummy and rolls out. Has once or twice tried to rock forward from sitting but just face plants the floor. Has never entertained bum shuffling. Likes to slowly cruise around furniture but has to be put there - can’t get to the furniture independently or pull up. As far as I can tell isn’t close to walking - doesn’t stand unsupported and still requires both hands to be holding something.

Rolled at about 8 months but just to escape tummy time, never to get about. Has been sitting up since about 8 months as well.

Up until about 2 months ago I don’t think he was bothered but he is now quite cross about it I think. I’ve always told myself ‘he’ll get there in the end’ but seeing 8 month old babies crawl circles round him at nursery and him not being able to get to the toys he wants is so sad!!

When researching about walking for my middle son. I was told if not walking by 16 month then help can be found.

I've read the same only 18 months.

It's natural for parents to be anxious but honestly, op, your baby sounds fine. Some babies do not crawl, apparently I didn't, my children did. So what?

Presumably he will have regular checkups when things once again resemble normal. If there is any problem it will be highlighted then and you can raise any concerns.

From what you say, at the moment all is as it should be.

My DS didnt crawl or bum shuffle. He learnt to roll over and did it repeatedly for a day and then never again! He was all about cruising and we set the living room furniture up so he could cruise from one end to another. He eventually learnt to pull himself up and started walking at 15 months. They are all so different.

The nusery hes started at should help as well if needed but he sounds fine to me xx

My little boy didn't move until 11 months and there was nothing wrong he was taking his time.
