Hi everyone. So my 10 mth old babbled at 5 or 6mths and did it consistently but ebbed for 2 weeks here and there. It started with ma ba pa ga etc and then mama baba papa and then bababab mamama. She is hardly babbling for the past couple weeks or so and just doing some baba or abba now occasionally. she us al about pulling to stand on everything while trying to balance unassisted. I know sometimes they get quieter then focused ln motor milestones but cannanyone reassure me as to when it came back. Whats the longest they went without babbling beforenit returned? She has also in those couple weeks started waving and giving me things and feeding me. She claps, points, high fives and used to have approximations for book (buhh) boob (boo) and up. She only very occasionally uses them now. Any advice as i wonder about regressions thanks to google. Thanks a lot

My DD stopped babbling for a good few weeks when learning to pull to stand and cruise - once she mastered it the babbling returned.

Thanks a lot for your reply! Very reassuring. She is also doing this new thing where she is shouting at high volume like tarzan. Like exercising or experimenting with her vocals it seems...so she may not be babbling much but still vocal but just missing the babbling and words

@mongo123 I did a thread on this the other day - really similar my 9mo was such a little chatterbox and then she’s started crawling - she literally went silent for 3/4 days maybe mastering her crawling? I was panicking but yesterday she started up again with her chatting away which was a bit of a relief!
Think maybe they focus on one skill for a bit?

Totally normal. They can only master one thing at a time. It will come back 🙂

So true. She is cruising and pulling to stand on everything she can find! So def focused on that it seems

My first DS stopped babbling for about two months (6 to 8 months) whilst perfecting his gross motor. I was anxious too but once he was cruising and crawling about the babbling came back with a vengeance!

Can I ask how things are now? I'm getting in a right state about it all 🙈

Maybe the next day after posting this it started to come back a bit and since yesterday back in full swing..so happy about it. So many phases.. just try not to stress over it and give it a bit of time
