Dealing with anger - 7- 8 year old boys

DS has a real temper. I want to help him to manage it better. He gets really cross - shouts, throws things, says the worst words he can think of (and they are getting quite bad).

Any tips anyone? I am naturally not an agry outburst type and I worry that I am teaching him that it's not OK to be angry rather than it being ok but you need to control it.

Puddle

No experience of this yet as ds is only 2.11, but will watch with interest for future reference!

FWIW, I think that being able to express himself through words is a brilliant way of getting across how angry he is without physically hurting someone. If what he says hurts their feelings though then maybe that's another issue, is that what's concerning you?

how do you react? You deff have to stay completely calm and not get angry back, which can be hard.

No f'ing clue here, either. I got called into talk to ds teacher about his hot-headed-ness today... I'm grateful that we got to the end of November before one of these chats, at least!!
