DS is 2.5 and was flagged as having communication needs during his 2 year review because he was barely saying any words at that time. He was referred for Speech and Language therapy and we've just now reached the top of the waiting list.
However whereas I was worried about his speech back then, I'm not now. He's learning new words everyday and putting them together into 2 or 3 word phrases. I know he's still behind what is average for his age but I can see him making solid progress.
The therapy just seems to involve teaching parents strategies to encourage their kid to talk more, but I already feel like I'm doing all of that already.
So should we attend these sessions or will it be a waste of time? Perhaps some other kid needs my place on the course more?
Has anyone done this therapy? Was it actually useful?
