Hi,
First time mum just looking for some advice and experience. My one year old son started nursery last week for two days a week. Since he has started he has not ate anything whilst there apart from a bit of breadstick. He does not drink milk and has not done so for months so does not have bottles to fall back on. He has always been a fussy eater however i have always found ways to distract him whilst eating to get him to eat eg. Give him a spoon to play with etc. The nursery staff have said this is normal however are concerned that he is not having anything but water and when he comes home he is absolutely starving. I am going to send in some cutlery from home tomorrow to see if that helps however i am not allowed to send food from home due to their policy. He loves yogurts and even his savoury food such as vegetable curry he has it mixed with yogurt. He enjoys more food he can hold such as toast, chapatti alongside his meal.
I have spoken to a few people who say that babies that young are better suited with a childminder in a home setting. He has been with a family member and their kids one day last week for the first time and ate fine and was happy. This family member is a childminder herself so he was around other children a bit older then him and following a similar routine to a nursery.
What are your opinions? I am worried he is hungry and unsettled. I know its all new to him and will take time to get used to but i feel maybe its a bit more relaxed for him in a home type of setting. I am back at work now and feel so guilty for doing this to him 😔
Thanks
