10 month old not moving at all

My little one is just over 10 months old.... she doesn't crawl or bum shuffle, she can't pull herself up or cruise furniture.

She only rolls in bed and only onto her side (she has rolled both front to back/back to front a few times but she doesn't do it regularly).

She was almost 8 months before she could sit up.

She's 50/50 with supported standing, sometimes she will stand up with a bit of encouragment, but mostly she just stick her legs out stiff.

We go to a baby group and there's only two other non-mobile babies one is 7 months and the other 8 months. My friends 6.5 month old is newly crawling and he was a month premature!

I know we shouldn't compare to other children, but i'm starting to get a bit worried now. Her older sister was crawling/cruising/taking steps with a push a long baby walker at this age as well.

Any advice, should I be worried?

My best advice is to talk to your HV. She'll be able to have a look and to see if she needs a referral or just more time.

If your gut feeling is that there is something, don't be fobbed off though. If that's how you feel, do push for a referral to a Paed fir assessment.

I agree about asking a professional. Babies develop at different rates and you may be reassured after a chat.

I know that heavier babies take longer to be mobile than slender ones, if that is any help.

The chances are she will just get up and walk, bypassing the crawling stage. That often happens.

Thanks for the responses :) much appreciated!

I spoke to the HV and she just said 'she'll be seen for her review before her first birthday' very helpful!

She's a tiny wee thing, so definitely not a case of her not being able to move her weight :P

I'm not a doctor and can't advise but all I can say is that my boy was exactly the same. Up until ten months he didn't move from sitting position at all. At ten months he started getting on to his front and do yoga moves and at ten and a half months he commando crawled, at eleven months crawled properly. He wasn't pulling to stand until 12 months and didn't walk until 16 months but he got there in the end.

My DD was like this - no desire to move whatsoever. She didn’t roll until 8.5 months, crawled at 10.5 months and didn’t start to pull herself up and cruise until just after her 1st birthday. All babies are different Smile

I would speak to your HV for advice, but it can be totally normal. My DS needed physiotherapy and he didn’t manage to sit unaided until he was 11 months, crawled at 13 months and started walking at 16 months. He’s now 2 and all his areas of development are completely normal.
