So we went to visit the Paedtrician today after being referred by our SALT for our 3.4yo boy who only says single words

Doc was great and asked a ton of questions to which i answered in great detail. I really have a clear picture of him

The result was that it looks like my son has autism and a delay in social development which is why he's not speaking as he doesn't need to

He will be tested for autism to see how far along in the spectrum he is but that's another issue and a long wait which is fine

Doc said he will get help from early care who will contact me

Has anyone else had similar and what were your experiences. When did they start to speak etc and what exactly do early care do and are they good

Thanks

No experience dexter, I just didn't want you to go unanswered.

Hopefully someone will be along soon. If not, maybe post in the SN section? There'll be some MNers in there with experience Thanks

Oh ok thanks how do I go about getting it moved

You can move it by reporting your own thread, a box will come up where you can ask @MNHQ to move it or you could go into the SN section and start a new thread Smile

@dextermorgan00 my daughter is 3.3yo and is currently going down the autism route (awaiting assessment) my daughter has no speech though, fab understanding etc but just no words. She babbles to herself too. She is under SALT and has been since she was 2 but obviously missed a lot in that time due to covid.
