Toddler bedtime routine

Please tell me your routine for your 2 year old.
We've recently moved our DS into a toddler bed as he was climbing out the cot.
At first he wouldn't stay in bed at all, now he will as long as we sit next to the cot and sing to him or read books. Eventually he goes to sleep sometimes after 20 min, sometimes an hour.
Usually he then wakes up around 2am and strolls into our bed, which I half don't mind, but I am pregnant so going to try and fade this out over the next few months.
I would love to be able to just put him into bed and leave the room like we used to when he slept in a cot. But he just won't stay in his bedroom anymore. He can also open the bedroom doors. Should I get a gate on his door? Thanks!

I have a 3 year old and we struggled to get him to stay in his own room. We came up with putting him to bed and telling him we would check on him every 10 minutes until he fell asleep. We would go in and say are you okay and then keep popping back before he had chance to pop out. When he gets in to bed with you in the night take him back (pain I know) but this happened to us and eventually he sleeps all the way through now, doesn't get up once he is asleep. It worked for us, could try that?

Mummy help needed… 15 month old screaming crying and playing up at bedtime, albeit absolutely knackered. All form of routine out the window, pushing me away and will eventually fall asleep downstairs 🙈 any tips for a Mama all out of options??

Hello @Tiredmama87 and welcome to Mumsnet. Just a heads up that you're quite welcome to start your own thread. Take a look at our Sleep board where you'll find lots of parents going through this. Best of luck. Flowers
