8.5 month old scared of everything

My 8.5 month old DD suddenly seems scared of things she once enjoyed. For eg, she previously LOVED her baby sensory class, but over the last few weeks has just cried at all activities, spending most of her time attached to my hip with her face in my neck.

I’m sure it’s just a phase, so I’m just wondering if anyone has any advice on how best to navigate it? I try to show her there’s nothing to be scared of, but aware that I don’t want be making the situation worse for her.

Also, any ideas how long something like this usually lasts? (I know...how long’s a piece of string...etc etc’).

Thanks.

My little boy has just turned 8 months old and the past few weeks he's been so clingy. Won't sit and play with his toys like he used to unless I'm right there with him. He won't let me put him down even if I'm literally sitting where he can see me. He's been crawling for a while but now he can stand up and walk around the furniture to me so whether I choose to pick him up or not I feel like he's constantly attached to me.

I read that around 8 months they start to learn about object presence (I don't know, it was something like that) but basically they've now learnt that you can just leave them and they'll be waiting for you to come back. So even if you try and put them down to do something they understand that it could be seconds until you come back it could be minutes. And that causes them to be clingy or upset, they don't want you to leave them (even if you are right next to them).

Maybe this is what's happening with your little one, she may be worried that if she's not literally clung to you in her classes or what not she may just be worried about you walking away from here. I've heard it lasts a few weeks, but if that's the case, I've passed the "few weeks" stage and it's still happening 🤦🏻‍♀️
