Concerned about 13 month old

Hello

I'm slightly concerned about my 13 month olds communication development. He doesn't clearly say any words although he's just started doggy when he sees the dogs. He babbles and says mama and dada. The childminders asked me if he understood no the other day - I think he does understand it and just ignores when he wants to. Seems to listen more to me than his dad.

He doesn't respond to his name most of the time but I'm not sure if this is selective or not but he does often just ignore when his name is getting called . Hes also not pointing with a finger yet although he will make it known when he wants something and reaches out - so he is communicating.

He's very social, and loves other children, he has great eye contact with myself and everyone even strangers - I took him to a class yesterday and he was dancing round smiling looking all the other mum's in the eye for attention. He does give you things when you ask and he does enjoy playing with us and other children.

He walked at 10 months so no worries on that side of things .

Just wondering if anyone else's 13 month old has been similar? I've spoken to the HV who ran through some questions and said he's perfectly normal for his age.

Thanks x

He also loves exploring and going to new places .

It might be worth doing the ICan Progress Checker for 12 months.

I know he's a little over that but it should give you a good indication of whether there are any concerns or not Smile

Thank you I'll have a look now . He seems to be responding to his name today . Maybe he's just selective! X

Maybe he's just selective! X. Well, if he's anything like the men in my house it's pretty much par for the course Grin
