Hello, I’m probably being silly. But my daughter has just learnt to pull to stand. She is 7 months tomorrow. I just wondered how common it is for a baby not to crawl first. She’s showing no sign of trying to crawl ??

We tend to think of crawling coming first, but I think it's not actually that uncommon for a baby to pull to stand before crawling. Pulling to stand specifically, I'm not sure on percentages, but according to the WHO, somewhere between 1 in 12 and 1 in 4 babies cruise before crawling (or don't crawl at all, but most of the earlier cruisers do still crawl). My daughter cruised first, but did eventually crawl for a couple of months – I think she probably intended to go straight to walking, but lost patience.

Ds cruised before he could crawl! If I placed him right next to furniture he could pull up and off he went but if it was out of reach he could not move from the spot! He was cruising at 9 months and began crawling at 10 months - then there was no stopping him and he was off like a shot!

My dd pulled to stand at a similar age and almost pulled herself over her cot sides Grin Didn't crawl til about a month later. Didn't walk til 12MO. She's brilliant physically at just turned 3. Can ride a pedal bike no stabilisers, can hop etc. Your LO sounds fine x
