11 month old not sitting properly or crawling

Hi,

Just wanted a little advice. I have a very alert and active 11 month old who constantly waves his arms around and legs up and down but is not showing any signs of crawling.

He can sit and leans forward to get a toy but after 2-3 minutes falls to his side or back so is not a confident sitter as of yet.

Should i be worried? Is there anything i could do to help him. Everyone else i know with infants his age are nearly walking and he seems to be very far behind. Im a first time mum so i don't really know whats normal and when i should worry. SadApart from that he is very alert and constantly moving his arms and legs up and down.

Thanks

Does he seem to use both hands equally well? What about his legs? Does he favour one side? What was the birth like? Ok? Some babies can take a bit longer...otherwise it might be worth getting him checked out generally just to put your mind at rest.

Hi,

Thanks for getting back to me.

He seems to use one hand more then the other but does pass things from one hand to the other. Feet and legs he moves the same. He was born via csection and had stiffness in his neck when born so took a few months for his muscles to loosen and for him to move his head side to side freely. I know they say boys tend to be a bit slower then girls at crawling walking etc. He has his review today so will mention it and see what they say. Thanks

Yes and mention that he favours one hand...though that might be nothing it can be an indicator of weakness on one side which can be fixed with physio.

He has been booked in for physio. Thank you so much Smile

Oh good! Well done OP....it's hard worrying about them isn't it!

Mano2020 · 29/05/2021 10:34

I'm sure he will. My nephew didn't really talk till he was about three and a half! My SIL was so worried...then when he did talk he was so articulate it was bizarre! He's fine now at 7...perfectly able at everything!

Mano2020 · 29/05/2021 16:05

Oh wow! Thats amazing! Feeling much more positive now Smile

Hi OP, is there any update on your baby? How did he trun out? Current in the same boat with my daughter and I am so worried!

I don't think you need to be worried.

They almost always crawl before they sit independently (by this I mean get themselves to sit in a sitting position, not an adult putting him to sit) and 11/12 months totally normal. This was the case for my oldest he crawled first time about 11 months or just before and sitting a few days later
