Hi. My 5 month old scratches all kind of surfaces. He scratches the play mat , pillow everything. Is this a normal behavior. I am a bit worried

Perfectly normal

YarnOver · 26/05/2021 21:28

Yeah normal. If you want him to stop try cutting his nails short , then he won't get the same sensory feedback as he does with longer . But it's normal and no problem.

My baby used to do this, still does. Now I'm worried he's on the spectrum because he's nonverbal, not communicating pointing waving nothing. Keep an whw out for your baby... Mine scratches everything even today. Sofa, carpet, bed, pillows playmat

How old is your baby now?

He is almost 16 mons and flagged for autism because he's not communicating in gestures or words. He has 0 words and I'm here trying my best to not kill myself worrying about his future...

Hi @Worrywart12 I hope you're ok? Please if you're feeling down reach out to speak to someone, I can tell you first hand talking really helps. I'm happy to talk if you like, I'm sure we can find a way to get in touch. Please take care.
