Hi everyone.
My little boy turns 13 months next week, I took him to his first baby/toddler group since lockdown restrictions have lifted and I regrettably compared him to the other children. He isn't waving hello or goodbye, he isn't clapping, he doesn't understand commands such as 'give me your spoon' however if I ask him 'where is your teddy?' he will go to the teddy. He is cruising but not independently walking. He doesn't seem to be able to do toys such as stacking rings he just takes them off and throws them but won't put them back on the stack. I am trying with him such as giving choices over what colour socks he'd like to wear etc. I do try and point things out to him and always wave at him or at characters on TV. I also noticed yesterday I sat him directly in front of a little girl who wanted to say hello but every time I did it he just crawled off in the other direction and didn't acknowledge her existence. I'm just worrying myself sick thinking he's really far behind from a developmental point of view, I know children develop at their own pace but I can't help but think lockdown hasn't help because he hasn't had the opportunity to mix with other children. Can anyone put my mind at rest or am I right to have these concerns? Thank you
