5 m/o ear piercing screams

My 5 m/o DS has the most ear piercing scream and is using it a lot at the mo. It seems to communicate frustration, impatience or annoyance rather than distress. He screams as if he is yelling. He stops when we pick him up, and starts again if we try and put him down... it's exhausting. Often he can go from smiley / happy to loud screams within a second. It's worse on an evening. He is teething so I think that makes it worse at times, but I don't think it's all attributable to that.

Is this just a phase? How should we deal with the screaming? Or are we missing something and could something be wrong with him to make him so screamy??

My 5 month old is the same. It's exhausting. Only stops if I pick him up and dance him around. I spend most of my day on my feet for that reason. Sending a hand hold.

My 5 month old is the EXACT same . He’s a very happy baby when he’s not screaming so I’m hoping it’s just that he’s found a way to communicate. It’s normal for babies to want to be held a lot and I guess screaming is how he’s demanding it lol
