11 month old crawling

My DD started army crawling about 3 weeks ago, but I’ve noticed that she only uses one leg. She keeps her right leg straight and only uses her left leg to propel herself. Is it normal?

She only rolled at 8.5 months and also doesn’t pull herself up yet. She’s been sitting unaided since around 9 months (confidently).

She’ll be 1 in early May, but was 4 weeks prem.

Yep! They're all different and crawling isn't considered a developmental milestone. Some babies don't crawl at all. It's very hard but try not to compare your baby against others and/textbooks. She is unique and will develop at her own pace

Yep, I had a commando crawler and it was a one arm and one leg job. He massively favoured his left side doing it. He did that for a few months and then discovered proper crawling, which he does completely symmetrically.

Thank you both, that’s reassuring!

I could have written this! DD started crawling 'normally' within the month of the weird army one sided crawl but I was so worried. She was also 'late' with the other gross motors kills like rolling and sitting and has just taken her first reps at 16 months. If you have the same, the advice the HV gave me was that as long as they are progressing along the developmental tasks it's not to be worried about because they all really do develop at different paces. Also some children just don't crawl and go straight to walking and there is no concern with that - so your little one may not crawl 'normally' but may skip it and go to walking or use rolling to get around etc.

Sorry to drag up an old thread but I was just wondering how your DD is getting on now @Vicky1989x ? My 9 month old is doing the exact same thing!

@Themidnightpig She started crawling properly about a week after I posted this thread 😂 Started pulling up and cruising just after her 1st birthday. Walked at 15 months. She’s just turned 2 and is absolutely fine. I’d say give it a month or so and I’m sure LO will get the hang of it!

Can I just second OP - that is almost the same lswquence as DD who is now 2 and a 1/2 and is hitting all her gross milestones as expected. (And is a daredevil climber 😂)
