Nearly 3 no speech

My son will be 3 in June. He has a speech delay. I'm waiting for the NHS to contact me for his speech therapy. I paid private and got him seen and she said that his speech is more like a 15 month old. She said she didn't have any major concerns with him and no reason why he shouldn't progress with the work she gave us. He knows every word you say, points and communicates really well without speech. Knows his numbers, colours, animals just doesn't say it. He can say wowww, yuck, oh for no, oh for go sometimes but that's about it. He does babble nearly like he's trying to say sentences. He loves playing and is happy to be with other kids at the park etc but can't speak to them. I'm just at a loss of what to do to speed it up. We do all the work at home but he doesn't seem to be progressing that well. Is anyone else in the same boat or been in the same position? It's very disheartening sometimes.

Hi, my daughter has just turned 3 in March. She has no words, but understands everything you say and when you ask her to do something she understands and does it, she like your son points etc too, loves being around other kids, but the speech just isn’t there. We started speech and language January last year but with everything going on it obviously stopped for a long time, it’s only just started again before Xmas, she’s had a speech therapist come to the house every week for 3 weeks (was supposed to be 6 but the lady is off sick at the moment) so we are waiting again. She comes and plays with her and interacts with her, she has no concerns, we just literally name everything, keep things simple when we ask her something or to do something. We have even printed some photos out of her juice bottle, toys etc so she can point to them and we say the word. It is frustrating when everything is there except the speech. Xx
